This two-hour online program gives interpreters the concepts and vocabulary needed for oral surgery encounters.

This program will:

• Review the anatomy and physiology of the mouth and dentition
• Describe various types of dentures and implants
• Describe the process of a root canal, removal of impacted wisdom teeth, biopsies, and maxillofacial surgery
• Describe the work of the dentist and the oral surgeon
• Identify the questions that oral surgeons routinely ask and discharge instructions they may give patients
• Describe the work of the dentist and the oral surgeon

This course includes exercises and dialogues to internalize key dental terminology in English and interpret this terminology accurately and faithfully. These exercises will be complemented by the use of a bilingual glossary of dental hygiene terminology available in Arabic, Cantonese (Traditional Chinese), Korean, Mandarin (Traditional and Simplified), Russian, Spanish, or Vietnamese.
